dead man walking

as i was sitting in my office today eating my lunch my boss knocks on my door and comes hobbling in on crutches and tells me that i am fired. this is all pretty funny, with one exception. yesterday i played paintball with 14 other people from clemson. my boss being the nice guy that he is paid for my field fee, but told me that i couldn't shoot him. i figured that this would be no problem until after the first game which our team, hf, won. since there was 15 of there were 8 people on the hf team and 7 on the io team. the rules were that if the smaller team lost they got to choose one player from the other team. the io team picked me to join their team since i made it to their base. this initiated a cycle which left me being traded back and forth like a darryl strawberry rookie card. it wasn't until the last game that everyone played in, that the team that i was on lost. during the fight to defend fort apache i played on the io team which meant that i was fighting against my boss. sure enough as luck would have it as i laid in wait sniping out anyone attempting to attack our fort, i see my boss off to my left, so i had no choice but to fire off several rounds at him. after getting shot he somehow twisted his leg wrong and broke his fibula, he thought it was just a sprained ankle until last night when he went to the hospital. now he has his lower leg wrapped up and has to use crutches. other than that it was a lot of fun and luckily, my boss was kidding about me being fired. the place that we went, red fox games, was a great place, with lots of great fields to play. i guess the one thing that stuck out to me was the fact that the owner said a prayer before we began. it served as a reminder of how no matter what you are doing, even playing paintball, God should be the focus.
