I thought that I had a pretty good vocabulary, but I began to question that the other day with that whole Four Things Meme business. So I looked up Meme in Wikipedia and The Free Dictionary, so check out the links if you're curious, and you can learn too.

Tech stuff

I was messing around with some new tech stuff today that I think will definitely improve my workflow so I thought that I might pass them on as well as some ones I have been using for a while.

• Bloglines.com Helps you track that ever growing list of blogs that you read.
• MenuX extension a Firefox extension that allows you to change your Menu bar and Toolbars to maximize screen real estate. It allows you to hide things that you rarely use like the Menu bar and the window chrome- the bar at the top of the window.
• AutoCopy-a Firefox extension that allows you to copy text simply by highlighting it and then pressing Ctrl-V where you want to paste it, which saves you one keystroke combination compared to highlight, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V. This doesn't seem like a lot, but it adds up fast! (If you have both windows up drag and drop would be faster, but this isn't always an option.)
• Greasemonkey a Firefox extension, Flickr Quickr that allows you to use user scripts to change web pages. E.g. I have a user script that overlays an "F" on top of image thumnails in Flickr if I click on this "F" it takes me to the full size image rather than the smaller one with comments that you get if you just click on the thumbnail.

This might be the best song parody since Al Yankovic's Amish Paradise, well except for maybe the Turkey song by Adam Sandler.

Nice branding

I think that this map goes to show how good of a job Coca-Cola did in their product branding. You can also see more info on the site here.

A new button

I'm not sure of exactly when it happened, but Gmail added an actual delete button. This is completely against the original idea that 'you will never have to delete another email,' but as I am sure most people found there are some emails that you have no reason to keep. Despite the fact that it is just one button it shows that Google is listening to their users and changing their product to meet the users' needs despite the fact that it means admitting that their first effort wasn't perfect.

New things

Faith my eyes

I think that this is probably one of my favorite photos from my latest trip to New Orleans. To be able to have a smile like Ms. Matthews had when this is what her house looked like is definitely an outward sign of a very strong inner connection with God. What incredible faith.
